School Programs – Field Trips to The Bishop
Bring your students closer to science and nature as we share our stories of place, life, interaction and change using exhibits and objects from our collection. Get ready for some “aha” moments!
Guided Highlight Tour: Grades PreK-12
Two-hour program includes a guided tour of The Bishop’s most popular exhibits, a manatee presentation, and one Planetarium show of your choice.
9:45am – noon, Tuesdays through Fridays
$8 per student
15 student minimum
4th Grade Core Tour
This two-hour program includes a custom 4th grade star talk in The Planetarium, guided exploration of Museum exhibits, and special conservation presentation in the Parker Manatee Rehabilitation Habitat. From the earth to the moon, all aspects of this unique program align with the Florida State Standards.
9:45am – noon, Tuesdays through Fridays

*The 2018-2019 4th Grade Field Trips are FREE to Manatee County Schools. Includes student and teacher admission as well as bus transportation. Funding made possible through the Manatee Education Foundation, Bright House, and Florida Power and Light.
General information about field trips:
- Field trips must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. We recommend booking as early as possible, as space is limited.
- Field trips are available Tuesday through Friday only.
- Group rates are available for parties of 15 or more only.
- Please note Museum passes and reciprocal memberships are not applicable for group rate admission tickets.
- One teacher or chaperone is required for every ten students, and will be admitted for FREE! Additional chaperones (we recommend no more than one additional per 10 students) are $10.00 per person. Chaperones must be over the age of 18.
- All programs are referenced to the Florida State Standards.
- As a reminder, field trips are limited in scope due to time constraints. Field trips are not designed to be a comprehensive tour of the entire Museum.
How to book your field trip:
- Contact our Education Department at Education@BishopScience.org or 941-746-4131, ext. 113.
- When making your reservation, please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Name and address of school or group
- Contact information, including phone number and email
- Approximate number of students and chaperones (This can be adjusted as you get closer to your field trip time.)
- Date you wish to attend (We recommend being prepared with an alternate in the event your chosen date is unavailable.)
- Grade level of your students
