South Florida Museum
On the second Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 pm, we transform the Bishop Planetarium into a forum for discussions at think + drink (science), a place where you can grab a beer or a glass of wine (or a soft drink) and learn about cutting-edge science in a relaxed, informal setting. Typically our “expert du jour” gives a short presentation on the topic of the month, and then opens the floor for questions and discussion.
March 13: “Life at the Mouth of the Manatee River: The Great History of the Manatee River and the Creation of De Soto National Memorial” with Dan Stevens.
Dan is a 6th generation Manatee County native who grew up along the banks of the Manatee River and served four years in the United States Air Force. Dan earned degrees in archaeology and history studying under Dr. Lori Collins at the University of South Florida. He is currently the Lead Park Ranger at De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton, FL.
