Family Night at the Museum

We know that you love to visit the museum. We also know that you are always looking for new ways to learn and explore with your family, whether you are interested in astronomy, natural history, archaeology, anthropology, manatees, or any of the multitudes of areas covered in the museum. And so we are happy to present Family Night at the Museum.

The first Saturday of each month presents a whole new way to explore the museum. Each month there's something new to see and do. It could be a family friendly film or maybe a live performance. Then there might be a scavenger hunt through the museum or perhaps some hands-on activities. One thing is for sure - it'll be fun and educational.

If the planetarium is your thing, take in an old-fashioned Live Star Talk (7 pm) and learn how to find the planets and constellations that are up that month, then check out one of our latest space shows at 7:30. And, if you are in the mood, stick around 'til later for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Show.

And of course, the aquarium is open so that you can visit with the manatees. Presentations at 5:00 and 6:30.

Food is available for a nominal price.

The museum is open until 8 pm and admission is half price after 4pm.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame planetarium show runs from 8:15 to 9 pm.

September 4th: Gone Batty! -

4-9 pm on September 4th: Gone Batty!

Join us in welcoming Mindy Simmons back for some fun new songs about bats and other friendly creatures. Explore "Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats" in the East Gallery and try your hand at themed crafts and activities in the planetarium lobby.  You may just get to meet a real, live bat - don't be scared, they're nice! Presentations with bats and other friendly creatures are scheduled for 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. in the planetarium.

This event also features planetarium shows all evening: Live Star Talk at 7 pm, Two Small Pieces of Glass at 7:30 pm, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at 8:15 pm. Manatee presentations in the aquarium at 5 pm and 6:30 pm.
Admission to Family Nights at the Museum is free for members and general admission is half price after 4 pm.
