Visible Storage Gallery

The South Florida Museum features a visible storage area where collections including paleontology, archaeology, decorative arts, textiles, ethnography, minerals, modern shells and more are displayed for public "exploration and discovery".
The South Florida Museum houses over 20,000 objects that include paleontology, archaeology, decorative arts, textiles, ethnography, minerals, modern shells and more. The Museum's extensive open storage system makes objects from the collections visually accessible to the public. It also encourages research and teaching activities using the collections. Arranged in zones, the objects in Visible Storage invite individual exploration, and comparison of materials and technologies from societies all over the world. To add to the sense of discovery, many objects are stored in cabinets with drawers that slide open to reveal their contents.
