2013-2014 Physical Science Courses
We are happy to announce the Museum Science Education & Enrichment (MSEE) program for 2013-2014. Now entering its ninth year, MSEE is based on a three-year content cycle. The first year focuses on Earth & Space Science, the second on Life & Environmental Science, the third on Physical Science (Physics). This year's focus is on Physical Science.
This year's courses will be co-taught by Jeff Rodgers, the museum’s Director of Education and Director of the Bishop Planetarium, and Samantha Sprague, the museum's Curator of Education. Classes combine group discussions and hands-on laboratory activities for an engaging look at the matter, energy and interactions that make up our physical universe.
This year, we anticipate access to the DaVinci: The Machines exhibition across the street at the Bradenton Auditorium. We will use DaVinci's mechanical inventions to explore force, motion and mechanics.
Two levels of classes will be offered in 2013-2014
JUNIOR level will be appropriate for students entering grades 2 – 6
and will meet from 1 pm to 2 pm
SENIOR level will be appropriate for students entering grades 7 – 12
and will meet from 2:30 to 3:30
Classes will be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month* beginning on October 2, 2013 and ending May 21, 2014.
*In January we will break from our normal first and third Wednesday cycle. January classes will be held on January 8 and January 22. We will resume meeting on the first and third Wednesday of the month in February.
