The animal care staff at the South Florida Museum’s Parker Manatee Aquarium is planning to release a young female manatee nicknamed “Brandee” at 9 a.m. tomorrow, 1-17-12, from the Apollo Beach Nature Preserve, 6760 Surfside Blvd. in Apollo Beach. Brandee will be released with “Homey,” a manatee being released from Lowry Park Zoo’s manatee hospital.

A temporary exhibition featuring more than 30 of Nicklin’s award-winning photographs will be showcased in “Among Giants” in the South Florida Museum’s East Gallery, Feb. 9 – April 1, 2012.

The South Florida Museum will salute Hollywood’s biggest successes during award show season as Academy Award© Best Picture winners from the past 80 years are featured as part of the “And the Winner Is...” Film Fridays series. The new Film Fridays series will run most Friday evenings, Jan. 6 – March 16, 2012.

The Ripple Effect campaign was initiated in July 2011 by two anonymous donors who each pledged $10,000 to the Museum’s Manatee Care Program and challenged the community to join them in support of Florida’s endangered gentle giants.

Building on three successful years of partnership, the South Florida Museum and Webtivity Design Solutions have renewed their annual Corporate Partnership agreement.
